Excelsior and local rivals Snooker Centre met at Allotment Lane to contest the final of the Don Bemrose Trophy, and what a cracking game it turned out to be, full of entertainment and drama.
A win in their last game of the season, against bottom club Hall Road Rangers, gave Brighouse Town the runners-up spot above Bridlington Town despite a Craig Hogg triple propelling the Seasiders over the 90- point mark; and a Ryan Johnson strike in injury time prevented Town from keeping their third consecutive clean sheet.
Bridlington Town gave their fans a fine farewell for the season by winning their last home game of the season, 2-0 against Long Eaton United.
