An elderly woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a fall in Whitby.

The Great North Air Ambulance was called at 10.35am on Saturday to take the woman to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The patient, who is in her eighties, suffered serious head and chest injuries.

She was transferred to hospital in 14 minutes and arrived in a stable condition.
