Covid cases: Scarborough College closes its sixth form and other year groups as students asked to self-isolate

Students in Years 12 and 13 - its sixth form - have been asked to self-isolate, and the college’s prep school has closed to all classes up to Year 4, following confirmed cases among students and staff.
A spokesman for the college said two members of staff and two pupils had received positive coronavirus test results.

Hide AdThe spokesman added that pupils in the sixth form have already switched to blended learning, and some year groups in the prep school will do so from Monday November 23.
"As per Government guidance, pupils will remain isolated for a period of two weeks," he said.
Headmaster Guy Emmett said: “I was saddened by the news of students testing positive but I am pleased to report their symptoms are mild.
“We all wish them a speedy recovery and I look forward to personally welcoming them back to school.

“There are challenging times for everyone and not just Scarborough College. I am grateful for the ongoing support of everyone in our community.”
“The pupils have already shown great maturity when it comes to online learning,” Mr Emmett added.
“The education of the children will not suffer as a result of these circumstances and they will be able to follow their normal timetable.”
