Hide AdSpeaking to the BBC after the match, the Scarborough 24-year-old said: "I thought I started off quite well, I was pretty comfortable early on.
"But Simon played really well off the shorter jacks and he just played me out of the game after that.
"He was definitely the more consistent player and deserved to win the match and I wish him all the best.
"It's all positives though, it's a daunting place to come, even without a crowd.
