JUNIOR FOOTBALL - Phoenix U15s sunk by two late Fulford goals

Phoenix FC Under-15s shipped two late goals as they were edged out following a pulsating clash against Fulford in Division Two of the York League.

A fantastic first half saw both teams create lots of chances but they went in goalless at the break.

The second half turned into a goalfest with Phoenix scoring first, before Fulford equalised.

Again the hosts went ahead and regained the lead, but Fulford equalised again and then scored to go ahead.

Back came Phoenix as they equalised taking the game to 3-3 with just eight minutes left on the clock, but Fulford took all three points with two late goals.

Man of the match in a superb Phoenix display was Charlie Doubtfire-Langfield.

Phoenix Colts Under-15s came from behind three times to get a 3-3 draw at home to Copmanthorpe in a tough game.

Having started the season with seven straight wins, Colts were looking to extend their unbeaten start, but Copmanthorpe provided tough opposition and were unlucky to not leave with three points.

Two goals from Fred Lockey for Colts and an own goal brought the leaders a point to keep up their unbeaten start to the season.

Ayton Athletic Under-13s won 5-0 against Whinney Banks in a cup clash.

Ayton progressed through to the next round after dominating the game and coming away with a 5-0 away win.

Joshua Borrie hit a hat-trick, Ben Gibson beating five men before chipping the keeper and Jack Townsend rifled in from 30 yards into the top corner.

Callum Prosser received the man of match honours for a superb performance in centre midfield.

Heslerton Under-13s lost out 4-3 at home to West Pier Warriors in a very entertaining end-to-end game.

Pier took the lead from a corner only for Heslerton to equalise through Charlie Swiers from the spot after Myles Johnson was upended.

Right on the stroke of half-time Pier struck again to give them a narrow lead.

Into the second half and back came Heslerton with a Harry Richardson double before Pier levelled things up again.

With almost the last kick of the game Pier snatched victory when a cross from the right wing eluded everybody and nestled into the corner of the Heslerton net.

Phoenix Under-12s were edged out 2-1 at Thornton Dale.

It was a scrappy match with neither team creating many chances, but Phoenix took the lead through Lucas Cooper after some good work from Reegan Jackson and went in 1-0 up at the half-time interval.

In the second half Thornton Dale did well to get back in the game and scored twice to take all the points.

It was a good defensive display from Phoenix, with Ashton Allen picking up the man of the match award.

Heslerton Pirates Under-12s hosted Seamer Sharks and claimed a 3-0 success on Sunday.

In a tight first half the home side took the lead when the visitors failed to clear a corner and the ball fell to Kenzie Palliser which he rifled past the keeper.

The second half saw the hosts push forward more and soon added to their lead firstly through Shaun Isaac then an own goal.

Man of the match was shared by Palliser and Jack Boyes, who both put in solid performances in defence and midfield respectively.

Heslerton Under-10s entertained Sleights on Sunday.

Game one saw goals from Louie Spencer and Harry Brett for the hosts, with Keane Welburn winning the man of the match award.

Game two produced goals for Aaron Cook and Reece Wright.

The Heslerton player of the game award goes to the whole team for a battling performance.
