Bowman’s second-half hat-trick fails to save Scarborough Ladies U18s from home loss

A disappointing, lacklustre and disjointed first half saw the hosts go in 6-0 down at the break, a score which could have been higher but for some fantastic saves from Phoebe Cheshire in the home goal.

A frank half-time discussion, and a change in formation, resulted in a much better second half display, with Scarborough snuffing out the visitors’ attack and halving the deficit with a spectacular hat-trick from Anna Bowman.

Scarborough Ladies Under-15s came away empty handed as Bedale gained a 2-0 win and revenge for their league defeat at the hands of Boro earlier in the season.

In a game of many parallels it was the Bedale goalkeeper who this time produced a dazzling display for the visiting team.

Bedale went into the break one-up in a half where the home team struggled to find any rhythm.

Scarborough improved after the break, Lucy Tighe working hard trying to drive the home team forward.

Unfortunately it wasn’t their day as Bedale scored a second despite a girl of the game performance from Jess Corner in the Scarborough backline.

Scarborough Ladies FC Under-11s played against Brooklyn in their first game since the lockdown.

In very wet conditions Scarborough started very strongly when the ball fell to Alice Wood, who broke the deadlock with a fantastic stroke from close range.

In the second half the ball broke to Isla Jones in her own half and she ran past every player with lots of skill and slotted home a superb solo goal.

Brooklyn came close to pulling a goal back when Ellie Sullivan cleared the danger and keeper Kimberly Rowe collect safely.

Then a fantastic counter attack from a corner saw girl of the game Rachel Hodgson score her first Scarborough goal, capping a fantastic all-round game for her.

Scarborough Ladies Under-11s Reds turned in a much-improved display at Stamford Bridge.

In a close, end-to-end first half, Boro keeper Bella Shaw was as reliable as ever when called upon.

The Reds suffered a setback early in the second half when skipper Phoebe Ryan went off injured, but Elsie Elwick stepped in and made some vital interceptions.

Daisy Jones and Anya Joy put in another tireless performance in midfield, with Joy going close to scoring the team’s first-ever goal after being put through by debutant Martha Stockill, who showed great composure and neat passing.

Girl of the match went to Phoebe Ryan.
