Boro snap up Dixon

Scarborough Athletic have snapped up their third signing of the summer in the shape of defensive midfielder Joel Dixon.

The 22-year-old has joined from Blyth Spartans, after previous stints with Frickley, Tadcaster and Harrogate Railway.

Dixon started 21 games for the Spartans from September 2014 to February 2015, including the FA Cup 3rd round tie against Birmingham City, scoring his only goal for Blyth in the 7-1 win over Grantham Town in December.

He follows Dominic Rowe and new skipper Leigh Franks into the Boro squad for the new season.

Joint-boss Paul Foot said: “Joel has told us that he wants to be with a club going places and we fit the bill.

“Since the injury to Chris Bolder we have lacked somebody to sit in the middle of midfield, but Joel will also give cover across the back.

“He is a player with lots of experience at this level, having played for Blyth and Frickley, he also knows a few of our lads in Alex Metcalfe, Dan Clayton and Tom Corner, which will help as well.”
