Roberts joined the club in 2019, and saw his first season heavily impacted by the ongoing pandemic, but he’s admitted that he’s hoping for a successful year at North Marine Road.

“We’re ready and raring to go, it’s just about waiting to hear from the ECB to see what we can and can’t do,” he told The Scarborough News.

“If all is well, we’ll hopefully be able to train together as a squad and get back into a routine.

“All clubs are in the exact same boat at the minute and we’re definitely feeling positive about the season starting on time.”

Roberts has always been keen to schedule in a long pre-season but admits that this season it’ll be up to the individual players to prepare for the season.

He added: “I’ve always wanted to do longer winter nets and last season we started training very early.

“It’s going to be up to the players to prepare and make sure that they are fit and ready for the start of the season.

“I’m a firm believer that the lads will come back hungry and, with the influx of players, we’ll be looking to make a really good start.”

Roberts and head coach Piet Rinke are hosting a ‘Ticket to Cricket’ session on Monday, March 29, at North Marine Road.

Places are still available and they can be booked by contacting the club: [email protected]
