Police: Cayton body may be missing York man

Police are carrying out enquiries to establish if the body of a man found on the beach at Cayton Bay near Scarborough is that of missing York man Thomas Ducey.

Officers were called by a member of the public at around 11am on Saturday 19 March following the discovery of the body.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At this stage formal identification has not been carried out and we are unable to confirm the identity of the man.

"The family of missing Thomas Ducey, 57, have been informed of the discovery.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and the circumstances that led to his death.

"In the meantime, until we know for certain who the man is, enquiries into the disappearance of Mr Ducey remain ongoing. "
