The council, which is operates from 2A Marshall Avenue, is expecting a high demand, and there is a suggested donation of £25 for the wreaths and just £3 for the event poppies.

People can pay by cash or by cheque (payable to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal).

This year’s Remembrance Day commemorations will take place at the War Memorial, Wellington Road, on Sunday, November 13.

Participants are being asked to be at Station Approach no later than 10.30am with the parade commencing at 10.40am.

The service will commence at the War Memorial Gardens around 10.55am and after this sombre ceremony the parade will march to King Street before falling out.

Bridlington Mayor, Councillor Mike Heslop-Mullens, said: “In this the 40th anniversary year of the Falklands War, Remembrance Day is as relevant to day as it ever was – not only to remember those members of the military who lost their lives fighting for freedom – but also the many others who died because of those conflicts.

“The event has always been well attended and more people are always welcome.”

There will be free parking during the commemorations at all East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Harbour Commissioner car parks.
