Scarborough RNLI on lookout for new launch authority

The RNLI’s Lifeboat Station in Scarborough is looking for a volunteer to join the existing team in the role of Launching Authority.

Scarborough RNLI’s Facebook page said: “When a 999 emergency call is made to the coastguard, they request assistance from the relevant lifeboat station.

“It is the job of the Launch Authority on duty to authorise the launching of either the inshore or all-weather lifeboat or possibly both.

“The role also is to provide leadership in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager or as delegated.

“Once the successful applicant has completed the training they will be expected to be on pager rota system with other launch authorities.”

Anyone who is interested in applying for this role needs to live within a few miles of the lifeboat station.
