“It’s great,” said Gary. “To our knowledge, this is the first time in years a Scarborough band has signed such a big record deal.”

The album will be released on May 1 and will be joined by a music video of the song ‘Oath’ filmed and directed by Jacob Lucas Film and Photography.

Ante-Inferno started in 2016 by founding members Kai Beanland and Gary Stephenson.

The pair had known of each other through the Scarborough music scene but only met after Kai put an advert on social media asking is there was any interest in starting a band.

Soon afterwards they were joined by Mateo and the band self-released a demo, 'A Dream of the Devil', in 2017.

All of the band have day jobs. Gary is the director of event organisers BTH Scarborough, Kai is a proofreader and Mateo is a steel worker in Nottingham.

Ante-Inferno describe their music as “a style of black metal, incorporating heavy atmospheric, primitive and folk influences”.
