Andy's Man Club was started by former Leeds Rhinos player Luke Ambler in 2016 in memory of his brother-in-law Andy Roberts who took his own life at the age of 23.

Luke wanted to try and prevent other families from going through similar trauma and has grown quickly with groups now all over the country.

The sessions take place at 7pm every Monday and encourage men to talk with each other about any issues they're facing.

There will be a facilitator there who guides the conversation.

Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day.

Between 2016 and 2018, Scarborough had the joint eighth highest rate of suicide in England, according to recent figures from the Office for National Statistics.

The suicide rate–15.6 per 100,000 – was the highest of any local authority in Yorkshire and the Humber, and the rate for men – 23.5 per 100,000 – was the twelfth highest in the country, and well above the English average of 17.2.

Anyone affected by these issues can contact Samaritans on 116 123.
