Scarborough Hospitality Association have celebrated their 100th Anniversary with celebrations at Scarborough Spa.

The Scarborough Hospitality Association (SHA) was set up in 1923 as a self-funded association to represent and promote the interests of local tourism.

Today, the association is a partnership between tourism organisations and businesses, who work with local authorities, conservation bodies and economic development groups to showcase Scarborough and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.

120 guests were celebrating the anniversary which had a 1920s theme, and saw singers, dancers and afternoon tea.

A spokesperson for the SHA said: “We had a lovely afternoon full of chatter and memories from over a hundred past and present members!

"It was an absolute delight and pleasure to welcome so many members to our Centenary afternoon tea!”

The SHA are planning a Gala Ball at the Crown Spa in November, with details on that yet to be released.

Membership to the association is open to any individual, business or organisation that provides tourism related services or goods and has a keen interest in the development of tourism in Scarborough.
