A newly revamped sports bar has opened in the former Itis Itis premises on Castle Road in Scarborough.

J&S Sports Bar, operated by husband and wife team James and Stacey Durham who previously ran The Commercial, is aiming to return the venue to its sports bar roots.

Mr Durham said: “We wanted to bring back to Scarborough the original classic sports bar and give it a twist of J&S.

“We’ve got three professional speed cloth pool tables and two professional darts boards complete with oches.

There are eight screens ranging from 60 inches, to the largest which is 90 inches, capable of showing up to three games at any one time.

"“We plan to show all sports at the bar,” said Mr Durham. “If it’s not on – ask.”

The bar is furnished with a range of signed, authentic sporting memorabilia, including a signed, framed robe from Tyson Fury and signed gloves from the Best of British heavyweights, Frank Burno, Lennox Lewis, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury..

"We’ve also added a trellis above the pool tables to display old football shirts if anyone wants to bring them in – and if anyone has any other sporting memorabilia they’d like to show off then let us know,” said Mr Durham.

"We want to bring town back to our age group – we’ve already got McGinty’s, now we have J&S Sports Bar, and coming very soon is the Distiller’s lounge which will be located in the former Scarborough News offices on Aberdeen Walk.”
