Crown Tavern Walk to end after 42 years due to lack of 'manpower'
The Crown Tavern Walk which raises money for local children's charities won't be returning next year due to a lack of "manpower".
Former committee members Jane Moment, Ray Springall and Tracey Shaw, who were at the helm for a combined 95 years, made the announcement after Scarborough's Rotary Club, which had agreed to take on the event following the group's departure, revealed it is unable to do so.

Over the years, the walk has raised nearly £250,000 for its beneficiaries, with £12,000 raised by this year's walk alone.
"It's very sad because they're all worthwhile causes that really need funding but I know that Ian has done as much as he can," said Tracey.
"It's just unfortunate that there isn't the manpower."
After unsuccessfully approaching other organisations which also can't commit to the task, the team behind the walk have accepted it's going to end.

"Looking back we're proud of what we achieved and all the money that we raised, we're just sad that it's not continuing."
