Both Bridlington RNLI and Coastguard are looking for new recruits to help save lives on the Yorkshire Coast.

The two organisations have both launched campaigns to recruit people to help save lives at sea.

A lifeboat has been stationed at Bridlington since 1805, with the first RNLI boat stationed in the town in 1852.

Since then, the crew of Bridlington have won 16 medals, 11 Silver and five Bronze, the last being voted in 2000.

Bridlington RNLI is now looking for people to join the volunteer crew and is currently recruiting for volunteer Deputy Launch Authorities, All Weather Lifeboat Crew, Inshore Lifeboat Crew and Shore Crew.

They are also looking for volunteers for non-operational roles including fundraising, education, shops, water safety and visits.

Anyone interested is invited to call into the Lifeboat Station for a chat to meet some of the current volunteers to get a feel for what they do.

Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team is looking to recruit Coastguard Rescue Officers to cover Bridlington and surrounding area.

The incidents they cover include cliff rescues, medical incidents, water rescues, mud rescues, search for lost and missing persons, ordnance and flooding .

The team is looking for volunteers from Bridlington, Flamborough & Bempton and the surrounding area/villages who want to be part of the Coastguard family, learn new skills and respond to emergencies, helping others in their time of need.

Prospective applicants need to be over 18 years of age and have a full UK driving licence.

The station is located at Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) Humber, Limekiln Lane, Bridlington, YO15 2LX (next door to the new coach park).
