Parking warden comes under fire

Council parking wardens, who ticketed cars while their owners enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner, have come under fire - after they were parked illegally themselves according to one diner.

One man, who preferred not to be named, said Scarborough Council's wardens slapped tickets on several cars on Sunday night, as couples enjoyed an evening of being wined and dined.

However, he believed a Scarborough Council warden van was parked illegally outside of the Pickwick Inn on double yellow lines and in a loading bay.

"I felt they were unreasonable giving people tickets at that time of night when they themselves were parked illegally," said the man who took the pictures.

"I asked the wardens about their illegal parking but I was told to keep my nose out."

And he won the support of the public after posting the pictures on Facebook, where the post was shared several times.

The incident occurred at around 8pm on Sunday night.

The Scarborough News have asked the council for a comment but they have yet to respond.
