This flood alert issued by the Government is in force because some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths is likely today (Thursday November 17) between noon and 3pm.

Areas most at risk include Marine Royal Albert Drive and Sandside in Scarborough, and exposed coastal roads and promenades where the combination of wave action and spray is expected to cause hazardous conditions.

People are advised to take care along beaches and exposed coastal areas as waves and spray may be unpredictable.

It is almost a year since Storm Arwen battered the area, causing widespread disruption.
