Warning after firework used to blow up postbox

Police are investigating after a firework was used to explode a postbox in Longwestgate.

The incident happened on October 23 just after 8pm.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “This was an extremely dangerous act that could have resulted in the offenders or a passing member of the public being seriously injured. We urge anyone who has any information about who was responsible, to contact the police.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for Scarborough police.
