The raids took place in Bridlington on Saturday October 24.

Humberside Police said Adam Virr, 33, of High Street, Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire, was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.

Items were reported stolen from a property on Cardigan Road, Bridlington, a car was reported stolen from a property on Lansdowne Road, Bridlington, and items were reported stolen from a garage on Main Street, Wetwang.

Virr was due to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court.

Police are conducting patrols in the areas for community reassurance and have issued the following crime prevention advice:

Make sure your doors and windows are closed and locked when you’re not in the room. Nearly half of all burglaries are down to a door or window being open;

Make sure nothing of value (including your car key) is left on show to tempt thieves into your property;

Think about fitting a burglar alarm and security lighting – both to your home and outbuildings. It may be expensive, but they are very effective deterrents and can bring down your insurance costs.
