Quids Inn, in St Nicholas Street, was put under review by North Yorkshire Police after a performance by a female stripper in September was carried out in front of a glass window looking onto the busy road.

The bar's management blamed a member of staff for the mistake, stating both the Designated Premises Supervisor and Licence Holder were not at the venue on the night in question.

The woman left in charge on the night had since been sacked, the management said.

Today, Scarborough Council's Licensing Sub-Committee chose to ban such entertainment at the venue, and also imposed a number of other conditions on the premises in light of the incident.

The committee said it had only decided not to completely revoke the alcohol licence after North Yorkshire Police praised the steps taken by the management since September.

The stripper show was caught on CCTV and included "full nudity and sexually explicit behaviour" the committee heard.
