The townships of Falsgrave and Scarborough were united into one in 1890. Since then the area has changed dramatically but has always been a busy part of town. These pictures from the 80s and 90s show some shops and landmarks that remain today and some that have since disappeared - take a walk down memory lane.

This part of town looks very different now - the roundabout is no more for a start. But also, the large buildings in the centre have been turned into flats, whilst the gardeners shop on the corner was most recently Cartridge World.

On the corner of Victoria Road, this kitchen shop is now a branch of William Hill bookmakers. Next door, is still a hairdresser, though now with a different name - Tete a Tete.
