Hilderthorpe Primary School pupils reel in top film award nomination

A group of young filmmakers from Hilderthorpe Primary School are set to walk the red-carpet having been nominated for Into Film Awards for their stop motion animation film.

The budding filmmakers have been invited to attend a star-studded ceremony to be hosted by popular author and talent judge David Walliams on Wednesday, March 18, at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square.

Hilderthorpe Primary School Film Club has been running for two years and is incredibly popular, with over 40 regular members who enjoy watching, reviewing and making films together.

The pupils behind the Save Bobby the Fish movie are 9-11 years old and chose to focus on plastic in the oceans because their school is just a few hundred metres from the coast, and they all care immensely about plastic pollution.

The Awards are hosted by film education charity, Into Film, who engage with over half of UK schools and count Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh and Naomie Harris among its Ambassadors.

Into Film Club leader Rachel Lees said: “It has been incredibly exciting to be nominated for the best film in our category. I am so proud of every single one of the children for what they have achieved, and I really hope they are proud of themselves.

“Plastic pollution is such an important issue and living by the coast means this is an issue that the children feel strongly about.”
