English rock legends Status Quo will play at an East Yorkshire pub next year.
The band, who have had more than 60 hits in the UK charts, will play the Blue Bell Hotel in Burton Agnes on 15 and 16 May next year – a real coup for the area.
It’s a gig which the organiser has touted as “the biggest act ever to come to the East Riding”.
Owner of the Blue Bell Hotel and event organiser, Alan Wilson, added: “I’m really excited about Status Quo playing the Blue Bell. I’ve got some contacts in the industry but let me tell you that organising Status Quo to play involved a lot of negotiating.”
The band have previously played Scarborough Open Air Festival, but Mr Wilson said their decision to play in Burton Agnes is a grand coup for East Yorkshire.
Mr Wilson added: “This is set to be the biggest outside concert ever held in the area and its hoped the whole of Yorkshire will enjoy this top class entertainment.
“It’s also going to be so good for other local businesses in the area.
“I think we are going to see a lot of full hotels in Bridlington for the weekends, so it’s something that will benefit a lot of people in hoteliers in the area.”
The event will follow on from other huge events at the Blue Bell, including concerts by Russell Watson, Katherine Jenkins with the classical girl group Bond.
Eighties pop star Paul Young has also played at the venue along with Katrina from Katrina and the Waves.
Meanwhile, other artists appearing on the programme are to be released in the future once confirmed by the promoter.
The event will be in the grounds of the hotel and full facilities for eating and drinking will be available on site.
