Up-and-coming musicians have a new opportunity to showcase their songs in Bridlington.

Having seen what a difference open mic nights made to his early careers, Jack Parker is starting up his own weekly sessions at The Seabirds pub in Fortyfoot.

Jack, who is performing with his band at Cambridge Folk Festival later this year, said: “I’ve set up the open mic to give young people and aspiring musicians the opportunity to play live and showcase their music.

“When I started out, open mics helped me gain confidence in playing live and without them I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing.

“Most open mics are situated out of Bridlington in places like Beverley and York, but without transport many people aren’t able to get to them regularly.

“I’m hoping the open mic will bring together the music scene of Bridlington and hopefully inspire new musicians and performers.

“ All skill levels are welcome, performers get around up to four songs so bring along your guitar, keyboard, backing track... anything you perform with.”

The sessions are every Tuesday from 8.30pm.
