ARE you a Gleek that has been inspired by Rachel, Finn or Mercedes? Seeking stardom or a chance to shine?

GleeFest captures the essence of the smash hit, American musical comedy series, Glee and brings it to the heart of Bridlington, providing people of all ages with the opportunity to learn the routines, the music and the attitude of these musical giants.

From Monday August 8 to Friday August 19, exclusive of the weekend, top industry professionals from the world of musical theatre will be leading the way, showing participants how to perform like a pro and then letting them take centre stage in The Spa Theatre.

Andrew Miller, an international director from Ocean Theatre Company, will be leading the event.

He said: “GleeFest will be Ocean’s second undertaking at The Spa, we run the Guys & Dolls workshops in 2010, and we are looking forward to returning with this brand new show.

“It’s about individuals showing what they’ve got, but also working as a team. Drama, stage presence and confidence will be a big focus for us during the two weeks.”

Joining Andrew will be West End principal, musical director and vocal coach, Alex Weatherhill, who has worked on productions of Chicago and Fiddler on the Roof, who will be leading the music aspect.

He said: “We have favourites from both series of Glee and some exclusive new mash-ups written especially for our Bridlington event. I will be searching for some special singers to take the lead in these demanding numbers.

The workshops will be split into two different age groups, eight to 14 and 14 plus, so that greater scope can be achieved.

There will be some full company numbers, some small ensembles and some solos. Beyond that, if you are a musician and would like to join the team for some live playing, all are welcome.

This is not a ‘kids only’ event and aspiring Mr Schu’s and April Rhodes’ are welcome. A full two weeks of fun and training, including merchandise, information and tips from drama schools, directors and choreographers, plus two free tickets for friends or family to see the show, costs £80.

For those just wanting to watch the end result, tickets are available from The Spa box office priced at £5 for adults and £3.50 for children.
