Wedge took on Donald Cullen of Tommy Coyle’s School of Boxing at Whitby Boxing Club’s show.

The Bridlington-based Westway ABC man, 24, had to show his ring-craft in the first as Cullen tried to apply the pressure.

Wedge’s superior fitness saw him dominate the second and third rounds to take a unanimous points decision win.

The pair quickly arranged a rematch on a show in Brough, near Hull.

Wedge, boxing behind a slick jab, claimed a more convincing victory second time around to polish off a superb return to the sport.

The Westway man is scheduled to fight next Friday, April 27, in Hull.

Another Westway man, Sam Mayers, 27, has also been busy recently.

Mayers took on Ben Davis of Bolton Boxing Club on his home turf.

Mayers started well, staying out of range of the strong Davis while landing himself.

His gameplan went out of the window in the second and he traded with Davis, who landed a big shot and the referee administered a standing eight count.

Despite that, Mayers claimed the unanimous points win.

Following on from that, Mayers fought Dalton Reece from North Star ABC.

Mayers impressed again, taking a split points win.
