The opening day of the York and District Senior League season was ruined, with only one of the 12 matches in the top two divisions seeing any action.
That was at Flixton, where Bridlington were the visitors, and they at least took to the field.
Bowling first, Bridlington’s Will Hall and Harry Burnhill managed a total of 17 deliveries between them before the rain arrived.
Folkton and Flixton openers Anthony Stones and Nick Zakrzewski had put on 14 runs before the fixture was abandoned.
Sewerby’s game against Malton and Old Malton was called off without a ball being bowled. Already in doubt, heavy overnight rain meant the game had no chance.
