Trip to Goole brings little joy

Goole v Bridlington
Goole v Bridlington

Goole won the toss and chose to bat first. The Bridlington 1sts opening bowlers bowled excellently early on and made it difficult for the home batsman to score runs.

Sam Edmundson picked up two wickets while Ben Traves bowled a superb opening spell bowling, his 12 allotted overs on the bounce picking up two wickets for 26 runs.

Casey Rudd and Simon Leeson continued to frustrate the Goole middle order batsmen as opener Foster made a patient 66 and with the support of Earl (35) laid a platform for the lower order.

However the Bridlington bowlers did well to restrict Goole to 180/9 from their 48 overs.

Bridlington’s run chase got off to a bad start as Rudd and Leeson both went early on. Rich Lount then made a brisk 19, before Steven Janney joined Nick Tennant and these two batted excellently adding 64 before Janney went for 38.

Tennant soon followed for 37. After this the lower order were unable to maintain the run rate and wickets fell as Bridlington were bowled out for a disappointing 142.
