Selby were the visitors to Sewerby on Saturday and were asked to take first knock.

A good opening spell from Ben Dobson and Aidy Long saw them reduced to 19/3 after seven overs.

With Dobson taking a rest, Rob Coates took a wicket before injury forced him out of the attack.

Lewis Beasley then gave good support and three more wickets from Long saw selby reduced to 80/8.

Mike Artley came into the attack but despite him restricting the flow of runs, several missed chances allowed a stand of 64 between Josh Cruise and Gary Moore which took Selby to 144/9 before Cruise was out for 53.

Dobson belatedly retuned to the attack and soon claimed the last wicket to leave Selby all out for 145 after 44.4 overs.

Long finished with 4-38 from his 15 overs, with Dobson taking 3-37 and Artley 1-5 from seven overs.

Sewerby started the reply quite well with Luke Jennison and Beasley putting on 23 before Beasley was out for 12.

Jennison made 16 before he was out with the score at 52.

Dobson was out first ball and another quick wicket saw the score at 64/4.

Chris Chapman had been watchful while punishing the bad ball but he was caught after making 27 with five fours.

Rick Robinson is the man in form and despite losing three partners to low scores he was eventually joined by Andrew Rennoldson who helped him take the score to 134 before he received an unplayable ball and was caught and bowled by Roberts for 37.

Roberts then took the last wicket with the final ball of the 38th over to leave Sewerby 12 runs short of victory and Rennoldson stranded on 10 not out.

A very disappointing batting performance.
