Sewerby Cricket Club are looking for extra recruits to bolster their squad for the 2014 season.

The club is hoping to find more players so it can continue to run four Saturday teams, as well as a range of Evening League and junior sides.

The first team played at the highest level in the club’s history in 2013, and maintained its spot in York Senior League Premier Division for next year

Other senior teams compete the Scarborough Beckett League and Derwent Valley League, but it was a challenge to find 44 players on some Saturdays during the last campaign.

Ken Rennoldson, treasurer said: “Obviously to continue to provide this amount of sport it is vital to continue to attract new players of all standards as players retire or move away and the main objective is to provide enjoyable and healthy activity.

“The club is situated in front of Sewerby Hall with panoramic views overlooking Bridlington Bay and has excellent facilities.

“Non-players are equally welcome to join the club and if you are able to help in any way and be part of the club do not hesitate to contact us.”

The club operates a policy to keep costs down to an affordable level and annual subscriptions remain at £15, if paid by the end of April.

Match fees are £5 for senior players which includes a match tea and under-18s simply pay for their teas unless they are in full time work.

These fees are kept low because of the annual fund-raising gala which takes place at the end of July and all players are asked to assist with the running of the event.

Indoor nets start on Friday 10 January and run until 28 March with a cost of £2 per session on a pay-as-you-go basis or an up front payment of £17 for all sessions.

Beginners or those returning to the game will be provided with kit.
