Round-up of Bridlington Road Runners' latest races

A team of 18 Bridlington Road Runners took part in the latest round of the Summer League, a race over four miles around Hull's East Park.

The warmer weather brought some excellent performances and Phill Taylor was fourth overall in 21:41, followed by Scott Hargreaves in ninth in 23:18.

Josh Taylor was the club’s first junior in 24:56.

Emma Artley was the first Bridlington lady back and was also first in her age category.

Kirsten Porter put in another fantastic performance, topping the rankings in the handicap system, with Linda Hall also impressing as she finished fourth in the handicap.

Three juniors took part in the fun run. Shaun Foster was seventh in 8:44, Louise Foster was 39th in 11 minutes with James Ellerker completing in 14:13.

Shaun also took part in the 2.5 km run as part of the Manchester City Games.

It was another lovely sunny morning at the cliff tops for the Sewerby Parkrun and despite a strong headwind over the first mile the team achieved some excellent times.

Hargreaves was third in 18:53, with Nick Jordan fifh in 19:41, closely followed by Taylor in 19:50.

Four members of the club took part in the Dalby Forest Parkrun. Ashley Porter achieved a personal best time of 21:16, finishing in 16th place. Kirsten Porter finished in 26:31 with Simon Porter in 29:09 and Amanda Tindall in a personal best time of 29:14.

Debbie and David Duffill completed the Bushy Parkrun in 33:30 and 34:41.

Alan Dench of Bridlington took part in the Torrance Armed Forces Day 5km run in Redondo in California and achieved an amazing time, finishing 70th overall but was sixth in his age category in a time of 23:06.

Closer to home, Becky Clifton put in an excellent performance at the Driffield Triathlon completing the three disciplines in a total time of 1:10:58 to make her sixth lady and second in her age category.

Kayrn Hoggard completed the Filey Fling Challenge on Sunday. This long distance walk over 24 miles was completed in under nine hours.

Finally, Road Runners’ Sarah Wood is doing a treadmill run in Argos in the Promenades Shopping Centre on Sunday, between 11am and 3pm. The money raised will be split equally between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
