Bridlington’s Senna Proctor enters his second season in the British Touring Car Championship this weekend at Brands Hatch.
The 19-year-old, who won the Jack Sears Trophy for being the top rookie last season, remains with Power Maxed Racing driving a Vauxhall Astra.
Proctor is considered one of the rising stars on the BTCC grid, and the teenager capped off a fine 2017 season with a career-best sixth place finish at the season-ending Brands Hatch meeting in September.
He returns there this weekend with confidence in the car after some ‘productive’ winter testing.
“It’s been a good winter, it’s been productive. We’ve found out a bit about what works and what doesn’t work.”
He added: “This year going forward we have a little more experience with the car and also the team have more experience with the car, it’s all gone well so yes we’re looking forward to it.”
The Power Maxed Racing team have every reason to be confident for this season after some impressive testing so far.
Proctor finished 12th at the first test at Donington Park and a stunning sixth at the rain interrupted second test at Brands Hatch.
This shows that the LAPD and Bee Health (Carnaby) backed driver could be a force to be reckoned with in the wet and changing conditions.
Proctor is joined this season by Josh Cook, who moves from the Triple Eight MG team to replace Tom Chilton, who moved to the Motorbase squad for 2018.
With a season under his belt, Senna will be ready to fight up at the top, having shown what he can do last season.
The Rudston-born racer was also sure to thank his sponsors, he added: “We’re ready to get going this year and do our best for the team and for Vauxhall and to thank all our sponsors.”
The racing will be shown live on ITV4 from 11am-6pm this Sunday.
