Road Runners pleased with marathon results

On Sunday, eight members of Bridlington Road Runners took part in the Greater Manchester Marathon.

The race started and finished at Old Trafford football stadium and is considered one of the fastest, flattest courses in the UK.

Fantastic support and music around the course, brought out the best in the team, with all eight members finishing in under four hours and 10 minutes.

Peter Gulc was first home for the club, in an impressive 60th place overall in 2:52:11.

Not far behind was Martin Smith in 3:04:42, while Emma Brown was the first lady for the club and was extremely pleased with her achievement in finishing in 3:07:49 and was seventh in her age category.

Holly Jackson, Pearl Bayford and Karon Colley all finished close together in 3:27, 3:33 and 3:34 respectively.

Finishing her first marathon was Emma Artley in 3:48:38 while Michelle Rollinson recorded a marathon personal best, finishing in 4:08:54

The latest round of the City of Hull Champagne League was a 3.7-mile race at Beverley Westwood.

Simon Ellerker led the four-man Bridlington contingent home, finishing 32nd in:22:20. Stuart Spooner was 74th in 24:54, Dave Foster 103rd in 27:08 and Steve Arnold 125th in:28:37

On Saturday, the good weather brought out the best in a number of the Bridlington club members taking part in the Sewerby Parkrun.

Nick Jordan was third overall in 19:09, followed closely by Scott Hargreaves recording a personal best in 19:23, with John Potter also breaking the 20-minute mark by completing the course in 19:59.

Tim Puleston is pushing close to breaking the 20-minute barrier, finishing in 20:18 in seventh overall.

The first lady for the club was Sarah Wood in 22:25, with Janet Potter not far behind in 23:02.

Bob Eyre had another fantastic run, breaking his own age category record by completing the course in 24:10 to finish 32nd overall.

Junior runners this week were Lewis Dale, finishing in a new PB time of 21:06, Ashley Porter, Cameron Sissons and Kirsten Porter.

On Saturday, Josh Taylor continued to run well, recording another personal best at the Hull Parkrun 5k-, finishing 18th in 19 minutes and seven seconds.
