With only six players, Bridlington 3rds were always going to be up against it when they travelled to Reckitts Airwick for a Humberside Netball League Division 10 fixture.
The first quarter saw a bright start for Bridlington, and they went in front, but the Reckitts shooters soon found their eye for goal and took over to establish a 7-4 lead.
Without Lou Goodger at GK the lead could have been higher, but she made some great interceptions and did well to try and keep their tricky shooters out of the goal area.
Despite good effort from Lucy Height and Jasmine Parker, after scoring four fantastic goals in the first quarter, Bridlington only managed two in the second period and reached the midway point 13-6 behind.
Olivia Crabtree tried her best despite suffering from illness from the start, but it began getting very tough in the third quarter and being one player short was really starting to affect the team with fatigue kicking in for many of the players covering multiple positions.
Lisa Hough did fantastic at C and GD as players swapped positions to try and rest players when possible as they were covering quite a lot of ground.
Bridlington were unable to add to their total in this quarter due to frustration and some rushed passes and the opposition scored another six, making the score 19-6.
In the final quarter, the Bridlington team were pushed to the limits and the attacking girls did really well to score two goals in this quarter, but Reckitts added another six to make the final score 25-8.
Player of the match went to Rebecca Bolton.
The two teams met again in the return fixture in Bridlington the following week.
Bridlington, sponsored by West Hale Glamping, fought hard but their effort was not reflected in the final score of 25-10 to Reckitts.
The score was 7-3 in the first quarter, with Bridlington losing momentum in the second quarter as they lagged behind 13-4.
The third quarter improved and ended with Reckitts 19-8 ahead after some great shots and interceptions from Bridlington, before the visitors pulled away.
