Mark Pallister took five wickets as Sewerby claimed their first league win of 2016.

Beverley Town 2nds were bowled out for 135 in one of only two York Senior League Division One matches to beat the weather, Pallister leading the way with 5-32 and Lyndon Warcup chipping in with two wickets for only three runs from just 10 balls.

Olly Grantham made 56 and Kieran Simpson 30 for the visitors, before opposing skipper Adrian Long (32) set up his sides three wicket win, Scott Cooper (27no) and Steve Janney (25no) seeing their side over the line.

Elsewhere in the division, three wickets each for Bridlington’s Adam Newington (3-36) and Richard Medford (3-63) helped bowl out Hornsea for 185.

Sam Edmundson (43) top-scored for the home side before the weather prevented any reply from the visitors.

In Division One of the Scarborough Beckett League, Grindale made 168 all out at home against Wykeham.

Alessandro Congru top scored with 48, while Ian Cousins and Liam Cousins both made useful contributions but 5-28 from Gareth Barnard and Dan Peel’s 3-28 saw Wykeham gainmaximum bowling points.

Wykeham were 2-0 before the rain intervened.

Wold Newton had reached 65-3 off 18 overs before play was halted at Staxton 2nds.

Bridlington 2nds racked up 203-6 against Scalby 2nds with Jack Ibbotson making a fine 46 and skipper Andy Leeson hitting 40 in their Division Two clash.

Scalby were on 27-2 after five overs before rain ended their reply.

Only 12.2 overs were possible at Great Habton with Sewerby 2nds on top with the home side reeling on 33-2.

Flamborough slipped to a four-wicket loss on the road at Kirkbymoorside in Division Three.

The visitors’ Harry Burton was the batsman in form as he made a superb 76 as Flamborough posted 156-5 in a 34-over game.

The Moorsiders struck back however, led by Andy Bayes, who made 39 before Sean Walker (34no) saw their side home with three overs to spare.

In Division Four, Filey 2nds were 68-3 against Wold Newton 2nds, Nathan Vernon hitting 44 before rain forced the players off.
