Muston 2nds edge past Scalby 3rds in thriller

Muston 2nds claimed a dramatic nine-run win at Scalby 3rds in division B of the Derwent Valley Cricket League, despite a five-wicket haul and a fifty from Scalby all-rounder Adrian Hollingsworth.

James McMillan hammered 53 and all-rounder Gary Hanson 26 as the visitors posted 167-7, Adrian Hollingsworth weighing in with a superb 5-39 for Scalby.

Hollingsworth then replied with 56, but keen bowling from Hanson, 4-14, and Scott Orange, 3-30, saw Scalby dismissed for 158 with just one over remaining of their innings.

Valley Bar Nomads bowlers Dave Parkinson and Anosh George took 3-18 and 4-14 respectively as they crushed basement club Ravenscar 2nds by eight wickets.

The visitors were dismissed for 54, with Nomads knccking off the runs swiftly.

A depleted Snainton eased to an eight-wicket win at home to Ganton 2nds.

Leigh Watson took 3-29 as Ganton were dismissed for 110, Mark Lockwood scoring 30.

Michael Kipling, 51, and veteran Malcolm Maw, 40no, eased Snainton home.

Shakil Iqbal shone with bat and ball as Cayton 3rds claimed another easy win, this time by eight wickets at home to Wykeham 3rds.

Iqbal snatched 5-11 and jon Hodgson 3-15 as Wykeham were skittled for 79, Robin Shepherdson making 31, Iqbal then smashed 46 as Cayton wrapped up the win.

Hospitals/Rugby Club won by five wickets at home to Forge Valley 3rds in division A.

Simon Norris took 3-15 as Valley slipped to 74 all out.

Phil Lee took 3-28 for the visitors in reply but Hospitals managed to secure the win.

Leaders Kirkbymoorside chalked up another comfortable win, this time triumphing by 120 runs at Wold Newton 2nds.

James Magson led the way with an excellent 93 not out as the Moorsiders were all out for 172, Dave Stockdale taking 3-24 and Gordon Taylor 4-41.

Howard Mudd then grabbed 3-7 and Jamie Harper 3-16 as Newton slumped to 52 all out despite 25 from Dave Cullen.

Sherburn 2nds bowler Jack Sleight took a superb 6-9 and Jamie Thompson 4-16 as they skittlef visitors Filey 2nds for just 26 runs in their seven-wicket win.

Stephen Hill’s 81 not out saw Flixton 3rds earn a seven-wicket win at Nawton Grange 2nds.

Joe Harris took 4-28 as Grange posted 133-7, Neil Ward hammering 54 and Terry Ellis 31 not out, with Hill’s knock securing the win for Flixton.

Keith Eddon’s 3-4 helped Lockton earn a nine-wicket win at home to ailing Sewerby 3rds.

The visitors were shot out for 33 and Lockton eased home for the loss of one wicket.
