Bridlington Spa welcomed martial artists from around the globe for the Gathering of the World Masters seminar at the weekend.
Organised by the Martial Arts Federation of Great Britain, it was the thrid year the resort had hosted one of the biggest martial arts events ever held in the UK. It will be the third time the club has brought the event to our county.
Masters and grand masters from home and abroad attended and the event also featured a demonstration from multi-time champions in Kata Musical Weaponry.
This was followed by a series of martial arts open competitions with representation from a range of six different martial arts.
Organiser Stuart Hicken, a winner of the International Grand Master award for England, said: “I am delighted to once again showcase Bridlington to the very best martial arts experts in the world.
“This event will be a fantastic opportunity for students, both young and old, to learn from the best.”
Held over two days, the seminar attracted around 1,000 people, bringing a huge boost to the East Riding economy.
The event was sponsored and supported by East Yorkshire Events, whose conference and event manager Will Hall said: “Martial arts is one of the top growing sports in the UK and East Yorkshire is a hotbed for national and international talent.
“To have secured an event of this stature is a real coup for the East Riding and we are aiming to develop the seminar over the next couple of years into the biggest gathering of world masters anywhere.
“This once again highlights our commitment to bringing top-class events to Bridlington and the East Riding.”
