Trio take on new marathon

Three Bridlington Road Runners entered a new race on the athletic calendar – the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon.

In a field of around 5,000 runners in York, Andy Baker finished 192nd in 3:19:20. Next was Becky Clifton who was 982nd in 3:54:20 and completing the trio, Kevin Sissons, taking part in his first marathon, had a time of 4:02:37

Saturday morning was blustery at Sewerby for the weekly Parkrun and many senior runners were saving themselves for races on Sunday at Bridlington and York.

However, this took nothing away from a good performance of young Ashley Porter who was the first Bridlington Road Runner to finish. He came sixth with a time of 21:34. Next was Simon Porter in eighth position in 22:29. In 13th place Judy Allison was the first lady in a time of 23:53.

Peter Gulc and Ben Smith travelled to Hull Parkrun. Gulc finished in third place in a great time of 17:55 and Smith was 113th in 25:17
