Yorkshire League Division Two

Hull A 12 Bridlington A 2

A TOUGH baptism into the divison, Hull were a strong team featuring ex-Yorkshire number one player I Bucknell and current county player Scott Newman.

P Robinson and N Fell played really well to beat Bucknell and Cockshutt 21-12 21-15 and were unlucky to lose to Hull number one pair S Newman and J Dickinson 21-18 23-21.

Brid’s young second pair of A Storey and J Torbett played well against Newman and Dickinson losing 21-17 21-13, but they did not play well in the second men’s doubles.

The ladies put up a fine effort against a younger Hull ladies team. C Park and K Manson were unlucky not to win their second doubles losing to L Cockshutt and J Fanthorpe 21-15 16-21 21-18.

J Robinson and J Beadnall who have not really played a lot together were paired and played well.

P Robinson and Park have not been beaten for two years and they continued their fine form winning the first mixed against S Newman and J Fanthorpe 21-16 21-18.

The second and third mixed games were won quite convincingly by Hull, but in the fourth, J Torbett and J Robinson played really well and were unlucky not to take the match to three sets, losing 21-18 21-15.

Team: P Robinson, N Fell, A Storey, J Torbett, C Park, K Manson, J Robinson, J Beadnall.
