The penultimate race in the 2016 East Yorkshire Cross Country League was held at Welton on Sunday.
It is one of the shorter courses in the series but by no means easier, especially with the amount of rain over the last few weeks.
Phill Taylor found it tough going but still managed a time of 35:49 and third spot behind Nev Watson of Scarborough and Tom McKee of City Of Hull, Taylor’s legs just holding up from the previous day’s 20-mile training session.
Scott Hargreaves continues to improve with every race nd was next to cross in sixth place (36:33) and will surely be hot on the heels of Taylor in the final race at Sewerby next month.
John Nolan was next back for the men’s team in 29th (40:12), with Tony Smith recovering from injury to finish 35th overall (41:03) and first in his age group.
Emma Brown and Mark Woodley were next over with Brown pipping Woodley to the finish.
She was fifth lady on the day in a time of 42:47 and second in her age group.
In 15th position for the ladies was Emma Artley (46:20) and second in her age group, Kevin Lewis was 72nd (48:36) making up the points scorers in the men’s team contest.
Josh Taylor was not far behind in 76th (49:10) and Sarah Wood (49:26) made up the ladies team points.
