Further proof that the junior section at Bridlington Golf Club is bearing fruit came in the East Riding Junior League.
The club’s team have won the league’s North Division and will now take part in the final at Ganton on Tuesday 27 August, hoping they can secure a win and go on to represent the East Riding in the Yorkshire finals.
The team who helped them win the North Division consisted of Nick and Matthew Raybould, Henry Howarth and Mitchell Collins.
The Rayboulds and Howarth will compete in the three-man team final at Ganton and although Collins has to sit on the sidelines, the team is very grateful of his contribution in getting them to the final with him winning every game he played.
The trio were selected to represent the East Riding Junior Team in the recent fixture against the very strong Leeds Union of Golf Clubs at Driffield Golf Club. Despite the team losing, they all played well.
Whereas many golf clubs have few junior members, the Belvedere-based club is certainly enjoying a boom and also enjoying some deserved success.
Seven-year-old Max Brompton who will be travelling to the home of golf St Andrews next week for the national final of the Wee Wonders Golf Tournament.
There is also a very notable increase in junior girls at the club and they too have enjoyed recent success.
Mollie Howarth travelled to Middlesborough Golf Club recently to take part in the Yorkshire Junior Girls invitational and she came away as winner of her division, playing some excellent golf.
