Bridlington teenager Senna Proctor goes into the final two races of the season at Brands Hatch with a real chance of winning this year’s Ginetta Junior Championship.

After nine rounds around the UK, including at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix last time out, only two drivers can now win the championship with Proctor and arch-rival Jamie Caroline 100 points clear of the rest of the field.

With 73 points still available, Proctor sits only three points behind Caroline and he said: “I have no intention of travelling to Brands Hatch without giving it all I can to come out as Ginetta Junior Champion when the chequered flag drops on Sunday afternoon.

“In motorsport anything can happen, but I am ready for this one.”

The final race of the showdown will be shown on ITV4 on Sunday.

Proctor’s BMR team-mates include last year’s Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington and Fifth Gear presenter Jason Plato, so he has lots of experience to draw on.

“I am very fortunate they are on hand for help and advice, but I have been even more fortunate to have had a second year’s backing from Lesley Jackson of LAPD Property Developments, without which a championship challenge would not have been possible.”
