Bridlington ABC’s Leah Smith was on the wrong end of a split decision in the last four of the national NABGC boxing championships.
The Spa hosted the northern semi-finals and Smith was hoping to make home advantage count against Hartlepool’s Shauna Taylor.
The two had boxed previously, with Smith getting the decision, and Saturday saw another really close contest with momentum swinging one way then the other.
Smith was the faster boxer and tried to keep at range and move her feet, while Taylor had the strength advantage and tried to stand and fight with Smith.
After three rounds, the judges were split but two of the three awarded the bout to the North East boxer.
