Sledmere House will stage a new 10k race on the evening of Friday, 12 June.
The Sledmere Sunset Trail, is being organised by Driffield Striders and will take place over a scenic course on varied terrain of grassland, woodland and chalk tracks.
A fun run of just over two miles is also planned for before the main event.
The Sunset Trail replaces the Striders’ long-standing annual Mucky Duck race at Driffield, which has been dogged in recent years by traffic management problems.
Part of the race proceeds will be donated to the charitable trust which runs the Wagoners’ Museum at Sledmere House. The museum is situated in the entrance area of the house and is dedicated to the Wagoners’ Special Reserve, who became some of the first men to go abroad in the First World War, driving horse drawn wagons with supplies of food, fodder and ammunition for the front line.
Race entries are being taken online only at www.sportsentrysolutions.co.uk.
