Road Runners claim plenty of prizes at Summer League race

The fourth race in the East Hull Harriers Summer League took place on a nice, sunny evening at Leven and attracted another great turnout from Bridlington.

The race started at Leven Sports Club and went out around the scenic country lanes finishing off through the village into the playing fields leaving a nice sprint finish for those with energy still in their legs.

The course is fairly flat with a couple of slight inclines making for some fast times.

Phill Taylor, who had the disappointment of withdrawing from a race two days earlier through illness, bounced back with a win in 33:28, over a minute faster than his nearest rival.

Danny Brunton was Bridlington’s next runner back and finished in sixth place with a time of 36:25. Next up, and the winner of the night’s handicap, was Peter Gulc just over a minute behind in 13th position in 37;26.

A good battle between Nick Helliwell and Martin Smith was going on behind Gulc with Helliwell winning the fight crossing the line just four seconds faster and landing him in 15th position with 38:10 and Smith in 17th in 38:14.

Sarah Wood was the first lady member back finishing in 41st place in 42:01, Janet Potter was next, and first in her age catagory finishing in 77th position with a time of 45:19.

Also in the prizes, and finishing first in her category was Judy Allison, crossing the line in 113th in 49:58, while Mark Loft was 140th in 54:20,

Other great times on the night were: Simon Ellerker (28th) 40:27, John Potter (31st) 40:51, Simon Porter (81st) 45:54, Ray Robinson (105th) 48:52, Ben Smith (119th) 50:26, Michelle Rollinson (131st) 52:01, Zoe Ellis (135th) 53:30, Zena Boreman (136th) 53:31, Andrea Parker (142nd) 54:29.and Amanda Tindall (162nd) 63:16.
