Teenager Senna Proctor goes into this weekend’s season finale of the Ginetta Junior Championship at Brands Hatch with a great chance of a podium finish after his great showing in the past couple of rounds.
The 16-year-old who lives in Rudston secured the fastest lap in both races at Silverstone last time out, but unfortunately contact with other competitors meant that neither race was converted into a top three finish.
The Ginetta Junior championship is for competitors aged between 15 and 17 and the car model is a G40 with an 1800cc Ford Zetec engine.
With drivers competing from as far away as Brazil and newly crowned junior world karting champion Lando Norris among his opponents, Proctor is pitching his skills against some of the best young drivers in the world.
He said: “We qualified on the front row at Knockhill in Scotland a couple of rounds ago alongside Lando and we managed to finish third, which, in my first season on the circuits, I was really happy about.”
After two years in Autograss in a 1000cc Mini, Proctor decided to take on the new challenge of circuit racing that runs on the same package as the British Touring Car Championship, with the races being shown live on ITV4.
Viewers can tune in this Sunday to see how he fares at Brands Hatch.
Proctor thanked his season-long sponsor Lesley Jackson of Lesley Ann Property Developments (LAPD) for her support and involvement in this year’s series.
