FLAMBOROUGH Head Golf Club’s annual Junior Open was once again well supported by young golfers from around the area and judging by the scores achieved the event was very competitive.
In top place, and winning the Tony Warburton Trophy, with the best gross score of 74 was Jonathan Pearce from Bridlington Golf Club, seen collecting his prize from Flamborough Head’s junior captain Ben Williams together with Margie Emmerson who was kindly standing in for Audrey Farrant, the club president.
Winning the best nett prize with a score of 86 nett 67, was local girl and Margery’s granddaughter Georgina Hirst.
Winning Division One was Michael Coates of Whitby GC with a score of 77 nett 69, with runner up Stephen Hirst of Flamborough one stroke behind with 76, nett 70.
Other scores were Kevin Tang, (Bessecar GC) 79 nett 70, Henry Howarth (Bridlington GC) 85 nett 71, Connor Millard (Lofthouse GC) 90 nett 83 and Ben Williams (Flamborough Head GC) 102 nett 90.
In Division Two, the winner was Oliver Beckett (Bridlington GC) 96 nett 68 and runner up was Ruby Wilson (Bridlington Links GC), 96, net 73. Other scores were J Torbett (Bridlington GC), 92 nett 74 and Mitchell Collins (Bridlington GC) 112 nett 86.
In a separate competition for those youngsters with higher handicaps a Stableford competition of the red tees was organised with the winner being Brad Marshall of Bridlington GC with 49pts.
Runner up was Flamborough Head junior Ashley Porter with 46 points. Other scores were Brendon Wright 41, Billy Torbett 41, Mathew Atkinson 40, Thomas Thornton 35 and Sam Edwards 26.
