August has seen an influx of runners taking part in the weekly Parkrun at Sewerby and Saturday was no exception with a new record field of 91 runners taking part.

Of these,17 were members of Bridlington Road Runners, who were once more led home by Martin Smith, finishing third in 19:15.

Next back was Kevin Sissons, who is deep into his marathon training, and completed the course in seventh place with 21:01.

Very close behind Sissons was Mark Woodley, who was eighth with a time of 21:05.

There were three people who achieved personal bests on Saturday. These were junior runner Shaun Foster with an excellent time of 22:22 in 13th position. Mark Loft, in 41st place, who shaved eight seconds off his best time with 26:02 and Andy Godfrey, who knocked 50 seconds off his previous best with 32:25 to finish 72nd.

In the Harrogate Parkrun, Andy Baker had a great run to finish 15th in a time of 19:43

For the first race of September, Kath Baxter chose to travel to Tholthorpe, north of York, to run in the Stephenson’s Tholthorpe 10K, finishing in a time of 62:45 in 237th position.
